He had one: Olympic diver Diego Balleza opened OnlyFans in 2023 after losing his grant, and in 2024 he said he had left it behind. His story.
Although he says he no longer uses the platform, copied profiles keep appearing under his name. Be wary of any link that does not come from his official social media and read our guide to spotting fake accounts.
He used to. Diego Balleza, a diver from Monterrey who finished fourth at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, opened a profile on OnlyFans (nicknamed the “página azul,” or blue page, in Latin America) in March 2023, after losing the federal grant he received as an elite athlete. In November 2024 he told Milenio that chapter was over and that he was focused on his last Olympic cycle, aiming for Los Angeles 2028. His story was covered by ClaroSports, Publimetro, Milenio, Quién and the AP news agency.
He is a 10-meter platform diver from Monterrey, Nuevo León, where he lives and trains. He was 28 in 2023 and, according to Quién, holds a degree in business administration. His best Olympic result came in Tokyo 2020: fourth place in the synchronized event with Kevin Berlín.
Quién also notes that in 2019 he won bronze at the World Championships in South Korea and gold at that year's Universiade. In July 2023, with his profile already open, he took silver in the mixed platform at the World Championships in Fukuoka, according to Milenio.
From January 2023, Mexican aquatic athletes stopped receiving their grants because of the clash between the Mexican Swimming Federation, World Aquatics and Conade, the national sports commission. Balleza lost support of about 30,000 pesos a month. Speaking to Milenio, he explained that he trained six to eight hours a day and that the federal payment covered his home and his mother's expenses: “my mom also depends on me.”
In late April 2023 he told ClaroSports there was nothing to be ashamed of, since divers spend the whole day in swimwear, and that he was inspired by British divers. He told Publimetro that he posts artistic studio photos.
Publimetro, drawing on an interview with El Universal, placed the launch in early March 2023; Quién put it in the second week of that month. Milenio and Quién reported that the subscription cost 14.25 dollars a month, with bundles of 40.50 dollars for three months and 76.50 for six.
In June 2023 he told the AP that the income was “volatile,” but that it was helping him.
In late 2023 he joined Exatlón México, TV Azteca's sports reality show. Milenio reported that he was the third contestant eliminated that season and the first from the red team. In November 2024 he admitted to the paper that the show cost him the Paris 2024 cycle and that he had left the platform some time before: he opened it, he said, when he needed money to compete, not because he enjoyed it. He now wants to retire after Los Angeles 2028.
Another Mexican who went through a sports reality show before joining the platform is actor Jorge Ortín, a former Survivor México contestant. See more profiles in our Mexico section.
