Short answer: from Guatemala, the usual way to get paid from OnlyFans is an international transfer to a bank account in your own name, ideally a dollar account so you decide when to switch to quetzales. The platform keeps 20% and you keep 80%. The SAT, Guatemala's tax agency, has not published a specific position on these platforms, but the law treats the export of services from the country as Guatemalan-source income, so you need a NIT (tax ID) and should review your case with an accountant.
This guide is for creators 18 and older. It explains how the money travels to your bank in Guatemala, what gets deducted along the way and what the law and the press say about taxes. If you don't have your account yet, start with our step-by-step guide to starting on OnlyFans.
Quick summary
- Fee: OnlyFans keeps 20% of every payment, according to its Terms of Service.
- Currency: the platform pays in US dollars; Guatemala uses the quetzal.
- Usual method: an international transfer to a Guatemalan account in your name; the exact options appear in your account.
- Exchange rate: the Banco de Guatemala publishes the quetzal's reference rate against the dollar every day.
- Taxes: the SAT has no position on OnlyFans; the Tax Update Law lists the export of services among Guatemalan-source income.
How does OnlyFans money reach Guatemala?
- A subscriber pays by card for a subscription, a message, a paid post or a tip.
- OnlyFans deducts its 20% and leaves the rest as your balance.
- Once your balance is above the minimum payout (outlets and creator guides cite $20), you request a payout or schedule one.
- The money goes out in dollars to the account you registered.
The platform's terms warn that, if a currency conversion is needed, the final amount includes those costs, and that your bank's fees for receiving money from abroad are your responsibility. Refunds and chargebacks can also be deducted from your earnings.
What account do I need to get paid from OnlyFans in Guatemala?
Methods depend on your country and can change; you'll see them when you fill in your payout details. For a bank transfer:
- Choose an account in your name, with the same details as your identity verification. The terms allow the platform to check that they match.
- Consider a dollar account. Guatemala's Free Currency Trading Law allows deposits in foreign currency, and many Guatemalan banks offer them, so you decide when to exchange to quetzales.
- Ask your bank for its SWIFT code, what it charges to receive a transfer from abroad and whether it uses a correspondent bank.
- Make a small first withdrawal to confirm everything arrives.
How much do I get in quetzales?
- The 20% OnlyFans fee, taken before you see your balance.
- The incoming transfer fee charged by your bank and, sometimes, by an intermediary bank.
- The exchange margin: when you convert to quetzales, the bank applies its own buying rate. Compare it with the reference rate published by Banguat to see the difference.
Since the bank fee is usually flat per transfer, it weighs less if you withdraw larger amounts less often. To estimate your income before taxes, use our OnlyFans earnings calculator, and to see what's realistic, read how much OnlyFans creators make.
Do you have to pay SAT taxes on OnlyFans income?
This section is general and doesn't replace advice from an accountant.
No specific SAT position
We found no SAT statement on the income of creators on subscription platforms. Recent public debate has been about something else: in March 2025, the SAT's acting superintendent at the time told Prensa Libre that legislation is needed before foreign digital platforms can be audited. That concerns the platforms' own taxes, not what you declare as a creator.
What the law says
Guatemalan income tax is based on territorial source. Article 4 of the Tax Update Law (Decree 10-2012) treats the provision of services in Guatemala and the export of services from Guatemala as Guatemalan-source income. If you create and publish your content from the country for subscribers abroad, an accountant can tell you whether your activity falls under that rule and how to document it.
NIT and tax regime
To register an activity, issue electronic invoices (FEL) and file returns, you need a NIT and an up-to-date Unified Tax Registry. For income tax on business activities there are two main regimes, according to Prensa Libre: the Optional Simplified Regime on Income, at 5% on monthly income up to 30,000 quetzales and 7% on the excess, and the Profits Regime, at 25% of profit. For VAT there is the Small Taxpayer regime, at a 5% rate; its annual income cap rose in 2025 to 465,381.25 quetzales, according to the SAT as cited by the same newspaper. An accountant should decide which suits you, and whether VAT applies to your income.
Get organized from the start
- Download the earnings report from your account every month.
- Keep your bank statements and the receipt for every incoming transfer.
- Note the reference rate on the day you convert.
- Set aside part of every payout for taxes.
Mistakes to avoid
- Getting paid into a relative's or partner's account: the money is out of your control and you pass them a tax problem.
- Giving your password to an "agency" that promises to handle your payouts. There are documented cases of agencies changing the bank details to keep the money.
- Accepting payments from subscribers outside the platform, by deposit or direct transfer: you lose the site's protection and scams are common.
- Assuming that without a specific rule there's nothing to declare: the general law already applies.
